There are lots of dogs like Millie at our schools, providing emotional support and comfort for students and staff. They can provide a calming presence at school, helping reduce stress and anxiety while supporting students’ emotional well-being and sense of connection. Our district has guidelines for trained and registered therapy dogs to safely be part of the school environment. Sometimes a quick visit with a four-legged friend can help a student reset, feel comfortable and be ready to return to learning.
