High school seniors who are planning to pursue post-secondary educational opportunities can apply to receive federal or state financial aid.

The Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) form is used to apply for financial aid for:

  • post–high school vocational training,

  • apprenticeship programs, and

  • 2-year, 4-year, or post-graduate degrees.

Every high school senior is encouraged to complete the FAFSA because it’s the only way to determine whether you’re eligible for need-based financial aid. Many colleges also require the FAFSA for merit-based aid, financial aid appeals, scholarship eligibility for student athletes, and access to federal student loans.

Our College and Career Counselors are offering several FAFSA Help Events this fall to support students and families in completing the FAFSA or Washington Application for State Financial Aid (WASFA) form.

Please attend any event that fits your schedule. Both the senior student and a parent/guardian must be present to complete the FAFSA submission and should bring Social Security numbers or Green Card numbers, and may want to bring both student and parent/guardian 2025 tax forms or immigration documents (if applicable). Laptops will be available to use, or you can bring your own device.

STCU, in partnership with local high school counselors and LaunchNW, also provides FAFSA support. Visit STCU FAFSA Assistance to find in-person events, including an Oct. 14 event at the STCU Valley Branch, or to schedule an appointment with a financial aid expert.

Completing the FAFSA is a vital step toward college, career training, apprenticeships, and other post-high school opportunities.
