“Is anyone here interested in registering to vote?”
Tag along with North Central High School Civic Engagement Club members Henry (“Honest Abe Lincoln”) and Ethan (“Gen. George Washington”) during the school’s annual lunchtime Voter Registration Drive.
The student group, alongside NC SHADES Club, has hosted the event for three years running.
In Washington state, residents who are U.S. citizens and at least 16 years old can pre-register to vote through the Secretary of State’s Future Voter program. Participants are automatically registered to vote upon turning 18.
“It’s nice to educate people as much as I can about voting,” Henry shared in between photo ops with newly registered voters.
With the slogan "Your Vote, your howl!" Wolfpack students are hopeful to keep this annual event active for years to come, as well as continuing to host candidate debates, guest speakers, and other activities that promote civic involvement in the NC community.
