Teachers meeting

Late Start Mondays

Spokane Public Schools begin the school day one hour later Mondays to allow for teacher collaboration and planning during the 2024-25 school year, as part of the district and Spokane Education Association (SEA)’s collective bargaining agreement.

Providing structured time within the workday for teachers and other certificated staff to collaborate is an educational best practice consistent with other area school districts. Here is the Monday start schedule for schools:

  • Ruben Trejo Dual Language Academy (formerly Spokane Public Language Immersion): 8:45 a.m.

  • High Schools and Odyssey at Libby Center: 9 a.m.

  • Elementary Schools and Spokane Public Montessori: 9:30 a.m.

  • Middle Schools: 10 a.m.

  • NEWTech Prep and The Enrichment Cooperative at Bryant: Regular start schedule

Schools are dismissed at their regular time on Mondays.

There are no zero-hour classes on Monday mornings. Breakfast will be available between 20-30 minutes prior to the Monday start time. Yellow buses will pick up students one hour later. Spokane Transit bus riders should visit spokanetransit.com/spsconnect to determine when to catch your bus to arrive at school on time.

A complete 2024-25 calendar can be found here.
