  • Finch Elementary School: A Legacy of Learning and Community

    Our Historic Building

Finch Elementary School is a cornerstone of our community with a rich history that spans a century. Established in 1924, our building was designed by Spokane's most influential architects, Julius Zettel and George Rasque. Their vision brought to life a school that has stood the test of time, both in structure and spirit.

    A Century of Excellence

In recognition of its architectural and historical significance, Finch Elementary was placed on the Washington Heritage Register in October 2013. Shortly after, in January 2014, it was added to the National Register of Historic Places. Further cementing its importance, the Spokane City Council honored our building by adding it to the Spokane Register of Historic Places in March 2016.

    Modern Enhancements with Historical Integrity

In 2014, our beloved building underwent a thoughtful renovation to accommodate modern educational needs while preserving its historic integrity. The renovation added thirteen new classrooms and expanded our gym, ensuring that these updates seamlessly blended with the original architectural features.

    A Dynamic Learning Environment

Today, Finch Elementary is more than just a historic landmark; it is a vibrant place of learning and growth. Our students benefit from a range of facilities including a beautiful park, a welcoming courtyard, and a well-equipped playground. Inside, sensory pathways provide students with opportunities to take movement breaks throughout the day, supporting their physical and mental well-being.
