On Saturday, Sept. 21, River City Youth Ops is hosting a special event at Holmes Elementary School to kick-off the West Central Bike Bus program.

This community program is coordinating a “bike bus” with groups of students riding to school together with volunteer adult supervisors. The program launches this fall at Holmes, Yasuhara Middle School and North Central High School.

“This program is about giving youth the tools and confidence to navigate their world in a healthier, more active way,” said River City Youth Ops executive director Kate Burke. “The West Central Bike Bus empowers kids with safe, sustainable transportation while fostering independence, teamwork, and a deeper connection to their community.”

Saturday’s event from 12-3 p.m. is an opportunity for families and volunteers to learn more about the program, connect with community resources, learn about bike safety and maintenance, and more.
