“For me, swimming is the closest thing I can get to flying.”

Two years ago, Lewis and Clark High School didn’t have a girls swim team. This year? Greater Spokane League champs.

It was made possible for students like LC junior Ava Swigart through a co-op that allows the Tigers to practice with swimmers and divers from Cheney High School, Ferris High School and North Central High School for more than seven hours every week at Eastern Washington University’s Aquatics Center.

Ava hopes that the interest in swimming will continue to grow so all Spokane high schools will have their own team.
