“Music is probably the most important part of a musical.”
Did you know that the musical “Little Shop of Horrors” is based on a low-budget 1960s horror comedy film? But it was when playwright and lyricist Howard Ashman and composer Alan Menken—perhaps best known for their work on Disney animated musicals in the early 1990s—added catchy songs to a 1982 off-off-Broadway play that the bloodthirsty plant Audrey II really came to life.
Shadle Park Theatre presents “Little Shop of Horrors” Nov. 21 and 22, 7 p.m., and Nov. 23, 1 p.m. Tickets are $10 at the door. Sing it, Highlanders!
