A volunteer sits with an elementary school student practicing writing in a classroom.

“If we can make a difference in their lives, which is what I would like to think we’re doing, it warms my heart.”

Ricki Cohen is among a group of neighborhood women – “The Nanas” – that volunteers regularly at Logan Elementary School. They work one-on-one with students in the classroom, organize food and clothing drives, and support students and staff in many more ways.

We’re grateful for community members like the Nanas who donate their time and talents at our schools. Visit Be a Volunteer to learn about the many ways you can get involved at Spokane Public Schools.
