A culinary student in a chef’s coat and hat smiles as she speaks with an interviewer; a television crew with a camera and boom mike are also in frame.

Every year, the Emmy-award winning documentary series “Washington Grown” travels all over the state to tell the story of Washington’s 300 agricultural crops and the people who make it all happen, from farm to table.

This season, the crew visited NEWTech Prep to speak with students and staff about the school’s Culinary Arts and Hospitality program, which is readying students for future careers in the food and service industries with instruction in recipes and food preparation as well as kitchen management, menu planning, and more.

Check out the episode “Walla Walla Onions” (Season 12, Episode 2) to see the NEWTech students in the kitchen and learn more about our Career & Technical Education (CTE) courses that are preparing students to meet future career goals.
