Peperzak Middle School students sit in bleachers while two adults present a history lesson.

Last week, representatives from the Holocaust Center for Humanity visited Peperzak Middle School to share information and artifacts about the history of the Holocaust.

With support from HCH to facilitate learning, Peperzak is the only middle school in Washington that includes a history unit on the Holocaust for all three grades. Teaching this history to 6th, 7th, and 8th graders is part of the school’s commitment to uphold the life’s work of its namesake, Carla Olman Peperzak, a member of the Dutch Resistance who has devoted much of her adult life to making sure the Holocaust is never forgotten.
