First Day of Class
The first day of class at NEWTech, for the 2024-25 school year, will be on September 3rd, 2024.
We serve students from 11 different school districts. Unfortunately, the first day of school isn’t the same across all 11 school districts (see list below).
If your school district’s first day of school is after Sept 3rd, you are strongly encouraged to start attending your NEWTech class beginning Sept. 3rd. Most sending districts will not start providing school bus transportation to/from NEWTech prior to that district’s first day of school.
I you rely on school bus transportation and do not have any other means of transportation to get to/from NEWTech prior to your first day of school, you will not be penalized or marked absent for starting to attend your NEWTech class beginning on the first day of school for your school district.
If your school district’s first day of school is before Sept. 3rd, please inquire with your high school’s administration regarding where you should report during the periods your NEWTech class is scheduled.

Program Uniforms
Because NEWTech teaches employability skills and grades students on the acquisition of these skills daily, students are expected to dress in the appropriate attire for career development (the Program's uniform). A student’s grade may be affected if the instructor deems their attire is inappropriate for the workplace. In order to ensure safe and orderly classroom operation, the following guidelines have been established: Protective clothing (as required by per the Washington Industrial Safety and Health Act) shall also be worn.
As part of our simulated workplace model, each NEWTech program has a required professional uniform. Students are expected to wear their professional uniform every day. Beginning with the first day of school on Sept. 3rd
Students who were placed in their 2nd choice and waitlisted for their 1st choice, should not order the uniform for their 2nd choice program until we know for certain we cannot move the student into their 1st choice.
Here is a link to our 2024-25 program uniform information: https://www.spokaneschools.org/Page/5423
If you are on free or reduced lunch and need assistance with paying uniform fees, please contact Patricia Talbott, our counselor. PatriciaT@spokaneschools.org .
