A man wearing a black sweatshirt with the words "Gomez Racing, 22" and car racing flags mops the floor in an elementary school kitchen.

Joel E. Ferris High School head custodian Jim Gomez recently retired from a 45 year career with the district. His son Jeremy started with the district 26 years ago and has been the head custodian at Frances Scott Elementary School for 12 years. And who runs the night shift at Frances Scott? Jim’s son Andre.

We’re grateful for the dedication of all SPS custodial staff to make sure our schools are ready for learning.
