Cheerleading
The 2024-2025 Ferris Spirit Squad is made up of 31 athletes, all Seniors, Juniors, Sophomores & Freshmen.
We are the Back to Back 2025 & 2024 State Champions in Coed Game Day and 2nd in State Coed Traditional for 2025 & 2024. We also took 5th place at USA Cheer Nationals in February 2024!
The team cheers for football, volleyball, boys & girls basketball and wrestling while also supporting many other Ferris sports and activities. The Ferris cheerleaders also compete in local and state competitions. Promoting Saxon spirit and pride is our favorite thing!

Rubber Chicken History
The "Rubber Chicken" spirit contest is a cheering competition between Lewis and Clark and Ferris High Schools. The ASB Presidents at Ferris and Lewis & Clark in 1983, thought a student competition between the two schools might serve to increase student spirit at both schools. The idea was accepted by both schools and an ugly rubber chicken was chosen to symbolize a reward deeply sought but without actual value.
Since 1983, the rules have undergone many evolutions. Currently, the student bodies are judged on sportsmanship, creativity, attendance, volume, drill team performance between games, cheer performance at halftime, application of events to the school or rubber chicken theme.
