This afternoon, Shaw Middle School Staff and Admin, proud parents, friends, and families gathered to celebrate the incredible 8th-grade class of Shaw. It was a ceremony full of celebration, reflection, and excitement as we gathered to honor these outstanding young people who are ready to move on to high school.
Your teachers have had the privilege of watching you grow, not just academically, but as individuals. You’ve tackled math problems
that seemed impossible, wrote essays that expressed deep thinking, and delivered presentations that made us all proud. But beyond the academics, you've learned the art of friendship, the importance of kindness, and the power of perseverance.
Class of 2028, give yourself a pat on the back. You’ve survived the SBAC and MAP tests, CCLR and gym class, countless essays and projects, and that really awkward phase that seemed to last the entirety of 7th grade. You’ve mastered the art of exaggeration and dramatic performances and learned that sometimes, your teachers and parents are not the most awful people in the world.
Middle school has been a journey. You’ve faced the highs, like learning to navigate the hallways during passing period and hopefully passing most of your classes, and the lows, like getting caught skipping class and having to serve lunch detention or spend a day in ISI.
As you move on to high school, take with you the lessons you’ve learned here. Be kind, be curious, and always strive to be the best version of yourself. Congratulations, Class of 2028! You've made it, and we can’t wait to see all the incredible things you will accomplish.
